LTA EVENTS

Lark Camp

LTA hosts Lark Camp, an annual eight-day music, song, and dance camp held in the Mendocino Woodlands in Mendocino, CA. Lark Camp began in 1980 and has grown to encompass all three Woodlands camp areas, now boasting 80 artist-instructors, over 100 workshop offerings, and nightly dances and special events.

Over 600 campers from all over the world come each year to teach and learn traditional music, songs, and dance, while coming together to play, jam, and create cross-cultural magic that enriches us all. Lark Camp is a one-of-a-kind experience in a supportive, edifying environment.

VIRTUAL LARK

Virtual Lark, LTA’s online “Camp” is held online in early February.

Taking place over Zoom, Virtual Lark features workshops with top notch instructors, artist-led jam sessions, and an amazing opportunity to connect with “Lark-minded” individuals from all over the world.

Virtual Lark sprung from the COVID lockdowns when LTA hosted Lark Camp Online during the summer when in-person camp would ordinarily be held, followed by its first February Virtual Lark Camp and the Lark Cabaret – a series of streamed concerts. All of these events were intended to not only provide work for artist-instructors, but to fill the need for musical interaction during periods of lock-down when we could not hold camp safely. Videos of these events can be viewed on our YouTube Channel.

We are also excited to host our annual Jughandle Campout, held in October at the Jug Handle Creek Farm in Caspar, California on the Mendocino Coast.

This is a mostly acoustic, world folk music and dance gathering that will include camper-led workshops, jam sessions, dances, and hikes in the forest and to the nearby beach. Lodging options include private and shared rooms in the farmhouse, tent, RV camping, and day passes.

In 2024, the Jughandle Campout is October 11th through 14th.
